I canceled service over a year ago but was told to leave the dishes on the roof after mailing back the box and remotes. This week, I noticed the ceiling in my living room beneath both dishes had started to sag over a 5′ x 5′ area. I suspected water damage since we have received a significant amount of rain lately and had a repairman look at the roof yesterday. He discovered that the sealant around the screws in both dishes had fallen apart, leading to a leak in the roof. It is raining hard right now and there is a heavy leak falling from a small hole in the ceiling. Any suggestions?

I am having spray foam going onto an underside area of my gaage roof. At some point, a sat dish was installed and then moved. The first bracket and lag bolts were left on the roof and penetrate into the space being foamed.
Any ideas about how to properly patch these after removal?
Should they even be removed or just dealt with on next reroofing years from now?
I am worried about leaks and the small amount of foam disrupton if removed after the foam is done.

When I remove cover from this drain I see an open pipe clogged from both ends.I have two questions.1. Where could this pipe go and is it worth trying to unclog it? There is also a downspout nearby whose path probably merges somewhere under the ground with this pipe. I am afraid if I try to unclog the pipe I will push the dirt and clog the water path from downspoute.2. What could be the most likely path of seepage into basement? How Can I Patch Holes In The Roof Left By Satellite Dish Removal
My house came with 2 satellite dishes mounted to the roof around the same place. I’ve never used them. Recently, wind managed to push them down so that one came down completely and the other was still hanging by 2 of its 4 lag bolts.
I’ve removed them complete and left the lag bolts in the holes. Is there a best way to close the holes before replacing the asphalt shingles? Or should I just put caulk around the lag bolts and leave it?
Leaving the lag bolts in is fine, but the bolts are likely made out of galvanized steel, meaning they will rust and corrode eventually when exposed to constant rain and water. It is best to liberally apply roof cement patch to the lag bolts to ensure that no water will corrode or leak through where the bolts are.
You can get roof cement patch in a tube form like so that easily fits into a standard caulking gun.
It will eventually wear away so I would check on the patches every 3 or 4 years to make sure they are still there.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. IMO, If its not leaking, and you don’t mind seeing it , I would wait till you reroof.
If there is framing below to provide backing, you can use gasketted roof screws. They should be available in any lumberyard of BB store. If there is nothing below use the gasketted bolts they use to join panels in metal quonset huts. They are made for exactly that.If you are in a rush, or don’t want to put much time sourcing them, buy a toilet tank bolt kit.
You don’t say what kind of roof it is. On a regular shingle asphalt roof, I’ve had good luck patching holes like that with a piece of aluminum flashing and silicone sealant. Cut the flashing about 14″x5″. The nails on the shingle should be about 6″ apart so you should be able to shove the flashing between the nails up past the top of the shingle and touching the roofing felt. Try it once for fit, and trim the flashing as necessary if some is sticking out. Then fill the hole with silicone, liberally apply silicone to the bottom of the flashing, and shove it in there.
There is an element of luck in how well this works. If the hole is right next to a roofing nail you probably won’t be able to get enough flashing in.
The pro way to fix this would be to remove and replace the two shingles that the hole goes through, roofers do that all the time. Fill the hole with silicone before putting the shingles back.
