What Color Siding With Brown Roof

Light Tan & Green Siding With A Brown Roof

What is the Best Roofing Color, Pairings & Most Popular

Why choose just one color siding to go with your brown roof when you can pick two.

Generally I dont recommend using two siding colors on a home. I like when a few small accent areas are sided with a second color but the home is primarily one color. But this home is an exception. I really like this color scheme and will probably try to incorporate it into one of my own designs some day. All the colors are earthy, warm and very natural. And I really like the choice of forest green. The deep color really provides a powerful backdrop to this porch.

When you choose two siding colors, even if its just an accent color, they both have to work with the brown roof. Its harder because there are a lot of colors that work well with a brown roof but not necessarily with each other. Do what this home does and stay neutral. Its much easier to coordinate colors if you stay within a muted neutral color ranges.

And again, dont forget to vary the values and create contrast. No matter how many colors you use they still need to have contrast.

Houses body can contain more than just one color as well as material. If you are thinking about something to combine with a brown roof, you can try the idea.

The photo above has an inspiration inside it. The color scheme of this home exterior is very complex. It contains at least five tones.

The first is the brown shingles and the copper metal roof at the very top of the house. Next, there are also orange brick chimney, black trim, off-white siding, and yellow stone.

From all those, we can say that the most dominant body color in this color scheme is white and yellow. Those are the ones that we will focus more on this subheading.

While it is clear that you can effortlessly pair the white siding with the brown roof, you must know that there is also no problem with yellow. Brown also looks good with yellow.

The thing that we love about this exterior color scheme is the addition of black trim. It is not only a compatible match for the black windows and doors. It is also the one that can create elegance, particularly when being close to the brown color of the roof.

Questions To Ask Before Selecting Your Siding

Finding out which sidings look best with a brown roof is essential. The siding will serve as the basis for your choice of home color, but there are many other factors to consider.

You can start by answering these questions below to choose siding and roofing colors correctly. By answering these questions, it will get easier for you to pick the right color siding for your brown roof.

Combine Siding Color With Your Homes Surroundings

Most homeowners tend to overlook the role of landscaping in their homes color scheme. When considering the best siding color, you cant ignore the landscaping as everyone notices a home with a well-kept front yard. Therefore, your landscaping needs to work with your home exterior. If you have a high-maintenance front lawn, how long will you be able to keep it in tip-top condition? Some plants are easier to care for than others so either hires a professional landscaper to do all the work for you or opt for low-maintenance plants to make your life easier.

Other elements to consider include:

Your roofs color: the color of your roof shingles needs to compliment the overall colors of your home exterior. Ideally, the roof color must blend in with the vinyl siding, not stand out and steal the spotlight from the siding color.

Experiment with more than one color: it is not necessary to just go for one color for the trims, shutters, front door, and vinyl siding. To achieve a good finish, have a range of interesting colors that go well together. Use our above examples with images to get a better idea for the front door colors, shutters, roof, and vinyl siding color scheme.

Mailbox color matters: most people forget to coordinate their freestanding mailbox color with their home exterior. Remember, a mailbox is another important part of your home elements so if you have a predominantly white siding, for example, a black mailbox will work nicely.

If you follow my seven steps below, I promise you will avoid the common mistakes and will be able to make exterior paint color decisions that will be beautiful! Stick with me on this!

Does A Grey Exterior Go With A Brown Roof

I like the warmer tone of this paint...not the brown roof ...

If you have a grey exterior, you might wonder whether your roof shingles can be brown. Although grey siding is typically paired with black or grey roof, there are many Mediterranean and Colonial-style homes that boast grey exteriors with brown roofs. The undertone of their brown shingles is terra cotta as this hue goes most with neutral colors. Light grey is a great shade to pair with brown, so if your homes grey exterior is in natural stone or wood, a fabulous color pairing is grey and brown.

Choose Exterior Trim And Accent Colors

Once you have made a firm decision on the main exterior body paint color, youre ready to move on and choose your exterior trim and accent colors. First, let me tell you when it comes to choosing trim and accent colors, less is more! I cant tell you how often I work with clients who have a lot of architecture detail on the exterior of their home who want to paint every detail a different color/shade because they think it will accentuate the architectural details. However, too much contrast and change of color/shades actually has the opposite effect and the eye stops at each color and the architectural details no longer stand out.

Let me show you what I mean

Last year, I worked with a couple who built a beautiful new home in a very wooded lot. They wanted their home green to blend in with all the trees. The home had a lot of different exterior accents/elements including shake mixed with traditional siding, several dramatic changes in roof angles, lots of wood trim, stone accent, etc.. Initially, they wanted to paint all those exterior accents a different shade/color and I encouraged them to stick with one main body color and one trim color because all those beautiful architectural elements would then stand out more and not get lost due to all the changes in color. Also, what people dont realize is that stained wood trim and stone are colors as well. Below is how the home looked when we finished.

Let me show you some examples

  • 2.4 Is There a Color That Sells the Fastest?
  • The question of what siding looks best with brown roofs isnt sufficient. It is much more essential to be detailed than that. It is because brown roofing is so variegated in color. There are several shades of brown roofing materials.

Moreover, it can come in all kinds of color undertones, including red or gold. In contrast, some shingles are manufactured so that they appear gray from the very beginning.

When selecting a roofing material, it is imperative to think about how it will appear in a few years or even a decade or two. Clay tiles are a solid color, similar to some brown roofs.

Some materials are available in a wide variety of colors, such as real cedar and asphalt. Make sure you look at other colors besides brown if your roof shingles have different colors.

Also, make sure you take note of the color undertones. Siding colors are heavily affected by these factors. It is easier to match neutral brown roofs with different siding colors.

There is a lot of influence that undertones have on siding colors. The siding has to match the orange roofing, for example, if you have brown roofing with a dark orange undertone.

Remember, any color that looks good with paint will also look good with siding when picking a house color. Here are the best picks for brown-roofed homes.

A quick trip through a paint store tells you there are a lot more colors out there than the ones you see on our little color wheel. So where do they come from?

The answer lies in two words: tint and shade.

Tint is any color with white added to it. Add a lot of white to red, for example, and you get pink. Add just a little, then a little more, and you get any of the thousands of tints you might find in the light red sample section at your local Sherwin-Williams.

Shade is any color with black added to it. So, our basic red can turn into Countrylane Red or brick red with a little black added. And so on.

Add tint and shade together, and you get tone a colors relative degree of lightness or darkness.

Put this all together, and you have the professional designers key tools for selecting color combinations to fit any desired mood or effect.

Now for the fun part: using your intuition to select the colors that appeal to you the most.

Dont worry you dont have to do this without a guide, and a Ouija board is not required. Handy online tools can present you with pre-selected siding and shutter color combinations for your choice. The options give you complementary and analogous choices to fit any style of home. You just need to consult your intuition to decide which ones fit you best.
