Best Insulation For Ceilings
Ceilings are the most important area of the home to insulate because thats where the biggest heat loss and gain occurs. There are many ceiling insulation products on the market but the most important aspect to consider is the R-Value.
A product with a higher R-Value is more effective at slowing down the transfer of heat. To determine how many bags of blown in insulation youll need, measure your existing insulation so you know your current R-value and subtract that from the recommended levels . Check the chart on the blown in insulation bag to determine the number of bags necessary to reach your desired R-value based on the square footage of your attic. Olson recommends buying more bags than you think youll need. You can always return them, and you dont want to stop in the middle of the job because youve run out.
